Description / Use

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) – Lyophilized is intended for use in assisted reproductive procedures that include gamete and embryo manipulation. These procedures include the use of PVP solution for immobilizing sperm for ICSI procedures. PVP – Lyophilized is a powder form which requires aseptic reconstitution with mHTF or other appropriate media prior to use.

As a powder, PVP – Lyophilized has a 2 year shelf life and allows for custom PVP concentrations to suit your laboratory processes. Once reconstituted, lyophilized PVP may be stored for up to 3 weeks. This product does not contain protein supplement.

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) Solution with HSA – 10%

Description / Use

Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) 10% is a viscous solution that allows for easier sperm micromanipulation by slowing or decreasing the motility of sperm for intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). PVP 10% has relatively more viscosity than PVP 7% and is recommended for use with high motility and healthy sperm. PVP solution yields greater control over fluid flow and prevents sticking in the ICSI pipette.

  • Contains human serum albumin (5 mg/mL) and reconstituted in isotonic HEPES-buffered HTF medium.
  • CE Marked.

HTF Medium is a synthetic, defined solution for use as a culture media through Day 3 of human embryo development as well as the processing of gametes. HTF is bicarbonate-based and is designed for use in a CO2 incubator.

Requires protein supplementation 100 mL.

Description / Use

P-1® Medium is intended for use in culturing human gametes and embryos during fertilization and growth through Day 3 of development. P-1® Medium was developed by Dr. Thomas B. Pool, Fertility Center of San Antonio, based upon the original HTF formula but modified to provide a glucose-free and phosphate-free environment. This formulation also contains taurine, an amino acid shown to have protective and embryogenic functions. P-1® Medium is bicarbonate-based and is designed for procedures utilizing a CO2 incubator.

Requires Protein Supplementation. 100 mL.

Sperm Maintenance Medium

Description / Use

Sperm Maintenance Medium uses only 1 mL of medium per 3 mL of semen or sperm. This more efficient medium means lower costs per cycle of sperm cryopreservation, minimal dilution of low quality semen, and potentially fewer straws/vials per patient. Sperm Maintenance Medium has similar performance to Freezing Medium TYB, a TEST-yolk buffer based sperm cryopreservation medium, without containing egg yolk (Es-slami, 2009). The medium’s unique formulation contains ingredients, such as hypotaurine and ascorbic acid, that have been shown to protect against reactive oxygen species.
